You know what it's like. Best laid plans. Greatest intentions. And it all goes .... up. You know it's got to be your fault because you must have caused the problems and you must have been able to stop them earlier. If you were half as bright as you like to think you were surely you would have foreseen the sorry state of affairs that has now resulted from your poor judgement.
Well enough of that nonsense. Yes sure you probably did miss a trick earlier in the play and perhaps if you had been a bit faster off the blocks you would have tackled the issues right from the start. But hey, you didn't and there must have been a reason for that. If only you could remember it.
Problems occur for everyone all the time and the higher you fly the harder you fall. It's part of the game, the thrill, the excitement. It's what happens in a world where people aren't perfect. Even you.
So how do you climb back to the top of the heap to take your rightful place as Master of your own Universe?
Mental willpower will take you there.
Strength of character will help.
Friends and family can do their bit to keep you on the right track.
Oh and a very large dose of laughter.
Come on, Bill Clinton - who amongst us could have come back from that? Good on yer Bill for getting past that and indeed to you Hillary - life's just not worth it - why waste another second on regrets and recriminations. He has set up a Foundation and spends most days trying to equal the playing fields.
David Beckham bounced back after his terrible set to with the British public and his romantic misdemeanour.
We all tend to forgive in the end.
It's easy really - own up to your mistake. Say sorry. Relax. Whatever went wrong you didn't mean for it to happen. You can learn more from mistakes than from triumphs.
Even though it takes a bit of mental agility to do it - keep focused on what you are about and what you were trying to do before you dropped the ball. Stay on that and never let your gaze waver from the destination you are heading towards.
