Vanity, vanity everywhere,
But is there any need for us to stand and stare?
To oo and ah and crave yet more,
Casting adrift our trust and awe.
The world stands still, alone, apart,
And makes us wonder who Thou art?
We wonder who We are within,
and what we do with mortal sin.
Do we carry on regardless,
Ignoring the lust for largesse?
Let the bankers off the hook?
Or do we call time, and refuse to look?
